About Kathrin Hero editorial design

As an editorial / graphic designer my expertise is the creation of exhibitions and meaningful publications (various media) with complex information structures, strong visual content and clear typography. This often includes all aspects of a work, from concept development, visual design, lay-out and production to content editing or even (co-)writing.

My practise of communication design embodies book and magazine design, typography, exhibition design, visual identities and interactive projects. I am happy to collaborate with open-minded clients and creative professionals to contribute to projects like Byblos, Cyprus, Above ground, SlowFood, Post Mortem, Afterlife, GLU Magazine Vol.I 1-8, GLU music, Wat ik je nog wil zeggen and many more.

A lasting interest in media theory and net critique led me to conduct research (MA, cum laude) at MaHKU in 2010/2011 that resulted in the artistic projects The Post-public Book, HB Gary Network of Business Relations, Cabinet: Art–Book, DE LIEER W. H. SE VRIESE and Public & Equitable (thesis).
Projects have been commissioned by National Museum of Antiquities, Frans Hals Museum, Wereldmuseum Amsterdam, Mauritshuis, Museum Tot Zover, Archetypisch, Utrecht Graduate School of Visual Art and Design, Capricious Publishing, Fordham University Press, De Nieuwe Ooster begraafplaats, SKOR, Valiz, Artimo, International Amsterdam Film Festival, Moniker, AWVN, De Normaalste Zaak, De Balie and for a number of artists and small businesses in the cultural field and creative industry.
